Custom Gunstock Carving by Master Wood Carver Joe Cummings
Something as simple as leaves and acorns dress up a shotgun quite nicely. Surprisingly, this pattern feels really nice in your hands and adds grip to the gun.
This Custom Gun shows a variety of choices when it comes to "dressing up" your hunting rifle.
I carved this rifle to tell a story of how a young girl lost her first elk. It tells a story how mother nature sometimes has a different plan.
This gunstock is carved with four different species of sheep, known as The Grand Slam. This sample gunstock also shows the basketweave and fishscale patterns.
Pheasants and other upland game birds add a unique touch to any shotgun. This shotgun also has elegant scroll carving outlining the fishscale pattern.
Sometimes people say to me, "I wouldn't dare take that gun hunting." I say use the gun, put some scratches in it, give your grandkids some stories to pass on about grandpa's gun.
Notice the inlay work on the forearm of this rifle. It adds a unique touch and is great for embedding names or designs into gunstocks.
Taking Joe’s engraving class proved to be both educational and exciting. I left the class with enthusiasm and confidence that “I can do this”.- Chad Ruseler, Post Falls, Idaho
